Chapter 4: iLost

One can start to think about our priorities in life and to what degree it has been distorted due to technology. For instance, iChat, AIM, etc. have forced us to have even the deepest conversations through a (if even) glass screen miles apart from each other. What did our parents used to do? Identity seems lost when one creates an “sn”. One can say anything, one can interpret anything as they will. People will flip if they see a “:)” from a crush they may be talking to and completely misinterpret the “conversation”. What is going to happen when we look back on our lives and realize we never really had those heartfelt moments with one another face-to-face, but rather, with a laptop computer? Where has all the excitement gone? Into a lifeless pixilated screen? Once in a blue moon I will venture online merely to see who is there, so lets keep it at that. Consequently I have lost connection to people I at one point kept close to my heart for countless reasons. Makes you think how much technology really has a hold of us. Personally, I find the face-to-face conversations the most enlightening, the most revealing, the most rewarding.
